The sustainability and contemporary relevance of the church, whether Catholic or Protestant, is a complex and debated topic. On one hand, the church continues to play a significant role in providing spiritual guidance, community support, and charitable work. However, the church also faces challenges such as declining attendance, changing societal values, and scandals that have impacted its credibility. To remain sustainable and contemporary, the church must adapt to the evolving needs of its members, engage with modern social issues, and embrace inclusivity and diversity. Ultimately, the future sustainability of the church will depend on its ability to evolve and remain relevant in a rapidly changing world. **

However, the term "modern" can also refer to a specific historical period in theater, typically the late 19th and early 20th centuries, so in that sense, contemporary plays may not be considered modern.
